Teen gun victim is recovering

A TEENAGER blasted with a shotgun is pulling through in hospital but still has shotgun pellets lodged in his body.

Jason Flaherty (16) from Whitestown Crescent, Mulhuddart, was lucky to escape with his life after he was blasted in the back with a shotgun.

The devastating attack took place just yards from where the teen lives.

His mother Dolores told the Herald this morning that her son's condition had improved overnight and he may not need surgery.

However, she revealed that gardai had still not determined a motive for the attack.

They are hoping to speak with the victim as soon as he is well enough to be interviewed.

He had been hanging around with friends when a car filled with hooded youths pulled up to them beeping their horn at around 11pm on Monday night.

Gardai have yet to recover the vehicle involved and are urging witnesses to come forward.
