Teen guilty of sex with girl (12)

A TEENAGER who had sex with a 12-year-old girl after they arranged it over Facebook has avoided detention.

The now 18-year-old, who cannot be named to protect the victim's identity, was aged 15 when he had anal intercourse with the girl in the bushes of a local football field.

He pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to defilement of a girl under the age of 17 at a location in Dublin on December 31, 2011. He has no previous convictions.

Judge Mary Ellen Ring imposed three years detention but suspended it in full on condition the man has no direct or indirect contact, including on social media, with the victim.

Letter delivered after 83 years

A letter written by a US school teacher in 1931 to her mother 150 miles away has finally been delivered - 83 years later.

Twenty-three-year-old Miriam McMichael sent the nine-page letter from Houlton in Maine to Dollena McMichael in Pittsfield. Both women have since died.

The letter was lost and only recently found at the Pittsfield post office.

Israelis clash with mourners

Israeli police clashed with Palestinian protesters in Jerusalem as thousands of people converged on a cemetery for the burial of an Arab teenager, who Palestinians say was killed by Israeli extremists in a suspected revenge attack.

The teen is believed to have been kidnapped and executed in ritiliation for the similiar death of three Jewish teenagers.Palestinian militants fired at least six rockets and mortar shells toward Israel.

Three killed by acidental bomb

A bomb accidentally exploded on a farm southwest of the Egyptian capital, killing three suspected militants who were handling it, a security official said.

The blast, which occurred in the oasis town of Fayoum, caused a building to collapse, the official said.

A series of small bombings and demonstrations took place on Thursday, marking the anniversary of the ouster of Egypt's Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.

Clashes also broke out between Morsi supporters and security forces Cairo's twin city of Giza, and one protester was killed.

Morsi supporters have also called for mass protests Friday.
