Teen girls for trial in alleged robbery
THREE teenage girls are to face trial after a Brazilian student was allegedly beaten and mugged in Dublin city centre when she refused to hand over a cigarette.
The alleged robbery is said to have occurred at Dame Lane last November 29.
Gda Brian Cleary told Dublin Children's Court that it was alleged that at 9.14pm the woman was approached and asked for a cigarette. When she refused she was "set upon".
The student was knocked to the ground and kicked again before her phone was taken from her pocket, Gda Cleary also told Judge John O'Connor.
The three girls, all 16, each face a single count of robbery.
There was no objection to bail and all three were ordered to appear again next month .
One of them is pleading not guilty, her lawyer said.
