A YOUTH, who allegedly stole a car and mugged four youths within the space of a fortnight, has been remanded on continuing bail.
The 17-year-old boy, with an address in Co Kildare, is accused of four counts of robbery at Killiney Dart Station on September 4 last and theft of a car from Monkstown tennis club in Dublin, on September 15 last.
He is also charged with the attempted robbery of a teenage boy travelling on a bus, in Killiney, on September 1 last.
Yesterday Judge Elizabeth MacGrath adjourned the case until April 8 next, when it will be decided if the case should be sent forward to the Circuit Court, which has wider sentencing powers, if the youth pleads not guilty.
A group of hardy soldiers will join walkers on a trek through spectacular mountain terrain on the same weekend that US President Barack Obama is expected to arrive in Ireland.
The JFK 50-mile challenge is being launched in Sneem, Co Kerry this May.
The soldiers will join groups from Britain, Holland and all over Ireland for the one-day trek into the mountains on the weekend of May 20-22. They will take in the breath-taking scenes including Kenmare Bay, Molls Gap, the Black Valley and the McGillycuddy Reeks.
