Teen abused his stepsister

A teenager who sexually abused his younger stepsister while babysitting her will be sentenced next month.

The 19-year-old man, who cannot be identified to protect the girl's identity, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to two counts of oral rape and five counts of sexual assault on dates between February 2011 and January 2012 at locations in Limerick and Clare.

The accused man was 16 and the girl was seven when the abuse occurred while he was minding her. He has no previous convictions.

Mr Justice Paul Carney remanded the accused in continuing custody until next month to allow for further assessment by the Probation Service and an updated report.

A garda told the court that at the time of the abuse the teenager would mind his stepsister for a time in the afternoons.

Taylor stole Freddie statue

Queen star Roger Taylor annoyed his bandmate Brian May by "nicking" the Freddie Mercury statue from the front of the theatre where We Will Rock You played, Ben Elton has claimed.

The giant golden statue of the late Queen frontman, which towered over the entrance of the London theatre during its run, now stands in drummer Taylor's garden.

CCTV shows subway killer

Police have released surveillance footage of a man suspected of shoving a stranger off a New York City subway platform to his death.

The 61-year-old victim was standing with his wife on Sunday afternoon at a station in the Bronx.

Authorities said that without warning, a man pushed him on to the tracks as a "D'' train was arriving. His wife says it was totally unprovoked.
