Talk-in to boost high-tech sector
THE south east of Ireland can become a centre of excellence for technology companies and establish itself as the Irish Silicon Valley, it has been claimed.
A two-day technology conference held in the Wexford Opera House, Techovate, aims to inspire new ideas among entrepreneurs, according to research and innovation minister Sean Sherlock.
Irish businesses will mix with and learn from senior executives of the world's biggest names in business, such as Microsoft, Google, IBM, Facebook and Cisco.
Innovation Wexford chief executive Brendan Ennis said there is an opportunity to develop growth within the SME sector by forging stronger links with the diaspora in northern California.
Mr Sherlock said that Ireland has been through a difficult period but all the signs are that there are people out there with lots of ideas, who will "pick up the pieces and get Ireland back on track".
"It is our young people with innovative ideas who are our future," he said.
