Swiss whistleblower

A FORMER Swiss banker facing prosecution in Zurich has passed on information to WikiLeaks allegedly about up to 2,000 individuals who have evaded tax.

It's understood that the key information on computer files contains details about a range of people including politicians.

Former Julius Baer banking executive Rudolf Elmer, who is facing prosecution for breaching Switzerland's strict banking laws, handed the information to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at the Frontline Club in London yesterday. Tomorrow, Mr Elmer, fired by Julius Baer more than eight years ago from his post in the Cayman Islands, will appear before a Zurich regional court to answer charges including coercion and forging documents.
