Supermarkets suffer

GROWTH in sales at Ireland's supermarkets slowed to just under 1pc in the three months to the middle of June, new figures show.

The latest grocery market figures from Kantar Worldpanel in Ireland -- for the 12 weeks ending June 12 -- reveal a slowdown in grocery market growth to 0.9pc.

German discounters are seeing the benefits, however. Aldi and Lidl posted sales growth of 27pc and 9pc, respectively.
