A PLANNED multi-million euro extension to the Square shopping centre in Tallaght has raised a "number of significant issues" that need to be addressed, South Dublin County Council has said.

The owner of the centre, Indego, submitted a planning application in September for a €50m-plus, 200,000sq ft extension to the Square that will include a new department store at the location.

The planned extension is being backed by NAMA.

It involves the council selling a car park at the Square to NAMA to facilitate the overall development.

But the council's own planners have told Indego that details of its plans aren't good enough.
