Spaceship on its final journey

Discovery, the world's most travelled spaceship, thundered into orbit for the final time, heading towards the International Space Station on a journey that marks the beginning of the end of the shuttle era.

The six astronauts on board, all experienced space fliers, were thrilled to be on their way after a delay of nearly four months for fuel tank repairs.



1,000 protest in Croatia

Croatian media said protesters have clashed with police as about 1,000 young people marched on government headquarters demanding the prime minister step down.

The Hina news agency said five people were detained as they called for prime minister Jadranka Kosor's government to resign over corruption allegations.



New group on terror blacklist

The US terrorism blacklist has a new member: a Greek group that claims responsibility for two targeted killings.

The designation by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton bars Americans from doing business with the Sect of Revolutionaries and freezes any US assets the organisation may have.
