South Dublin syndicate pick up €3.9m Lotto cheque
A SYNDICATE from South Dublin have told of their delight after picking up a cheque for €3.9m at the National Lottery offices.
Members of the group who wish to remain anonymous embraced as they were received their winnings yesterday.
The lucky group won the jackpot in the Lotto draw on Wednesday 23 October, having bought the ticket just the day before the draw.
As they toasted their luck with a bottle of champagne, one of them said: "We're so happy. We never expected that we'd win – it's unbelievable."
The winners, bought their lucky €6 Quick Pick winning ticket at Bus Stop Kiosk, Nutgrove Shopping Centre, Rathfarnham in Dublin 14.
The same shop sold a Lotto Plus 1 top prize winning ticket worth €350,000 in March 2012 but the prize was not claimed.
Yesterday's winners were the second syndicate in Dublin to win €3.9m in recent weeks.
On October 17, a syndicate from the Dublin region collected their cheque after winning the prize in the Lotto draw on Wednesday 2 October.
They purchased their ticket in Decie's Mini Market on Decie's Road in Ballyfermot.
However, the biggest Lotto jackpot win in Dublin was in October 2010 when a ticket sold in Donnybrook Fair, Dublin 4, won over €16.3m.
Meanwhile, tonight's Lotto jackpot is heading for €3m.
