Something blue for Jacquie in special 'Leinster' line-out
RUGBY fanatic Jacquie Jago lined out for her perfect wedding in Leinster's team colours.
The blushing bride looked stunning all in white as she married David Stafford in Dublin's Unitarian Church in St Stephen's Green. But Jacquie marked her loyalties to the Leinster team with a pair of blue shoes.
"These are Kurt Geiger six-inch heels -- I really like shoes. Thankfully Dave is still taller than me when I wear them," she said.
"The shoes fill the tradition -- something new and blue. I have Dave's sister's veil, which is something old and borrowed."
But the subtle sign of her true colours was just the tip of the iceberg for the wedding party theme. The bridesmaids wore royal blue one-shoulder dresses and held yellow calla lilies. The groom and groomsmen, dressed in grey suits, all had their own Leinster club ties.
And the 108 guests at Trim Castle Hotel were treated to a running yellow, gold and blue theme -- even the table settings were based on the rugby team.
"The table numbers related to the players on the Heineken Cup-winning team," Jacquie revealed.
"Our table was Healy -- number one. We decided to keep them like this, according to their player numbers. We printed out the lads' pictures and wrote their names underneath."
The unconventional pair even had Dave's sister as 'groomswoman'.
Husband Dave (32), from Whitehall, who works in IT for a building company, is the reason the couple first got into rugby at his workplace.
"I'm a northsider, so rugby is not as big, but once I came over to Donnybrook, I got into it," he said.
But he denied he was the driving force behind the Leinster theme -- saying instead that it is his wife's idea.
"It's all her own doing -- I claim no responsibility for it," he laughed.
The rugby-mad pair even cut into their wedding budget in order to follow Leinster's journey to Cardiff and the Heineken Cup Final. And the couple walked into their reception to the Leinster theme -- Welcome To The Jungle.
"I also got a letter signed by Johnny Sexton, who said congratulations on your wedding day," Jacquie revealed.
But Jacquie (32), from Artane, said the highlight was her little brother Marc coming home from Canada to surprise her. The couple can't wait to watch the Rugby World Cup -- during their honeymoon in the United States and Mexico.
