Skills shortage

DUBLIN SOFTWARE company Havok has been forced to recruit some of its workforce in San Francisco due to a lack of skilled staff here.

The group, whose software is used by movie makers to add special effects, has revealed that it will create 26 jobs in Dublin to support a new mobile product. It is expected that the company will sign a lease shortly for Dublin office space.

However, the group's managing director, David O'Meara, said an additional 40 jobs had gone to Munich and San Francisco in the past two years that could have been in Dublin.
