'Sister bought me €40k winner - I'll have to treat her'
A young woman couldn't believe her luck after she won €40,000 on a €3 scratchcard that her sister sent her in a good luck card to mark her new job.
Ciara Moore (22), from Grangecon, Co Wicklow, and her sister, Aine, were joined in the National Lottery Winners' Room with their extended family to pick up the prize.
Ciara had just started her new career as a childcare professional when she won the top prize on the Money Multiplier 10X National Lottery scratchcard.
"I started a new job on Monday and the night before, my lovely sister Aine handed me a good luck card with a scratchcard inside - little did I know how lucky it would be," she said.
The €3 Money Multiplier 10X scratchcard was purchased at the Topaz Deerpark Service Station, on the Dublin Road in Carlow Town.
"There's only two things that I really need - an upgrade to my car and a family holiday in the next couple of months and then I'll be happy," Ciara said.
"I have the best family in the world so I'll definitely have to treat them, especially my sister Aine seeing as how she bought me the ticket."
Meanwhile, a delighted woman left National Lottery HQ €30,000 richer after winning big on an All Cash Tripler scratchcard.
The scratchcard was bought for the lucky winner by her husband at the Maxol Mace shop, in Ballincollig, Co Cork, last week.
"I didn't scratch it until the next day and could not believe my eyes when I saw I had won €30,000," the winner said.
"Top of the list is a holiday to Spain, where a family member lives.
"We had planned to go anyway but now we can upgrade and book a nice hotel."
Tonight's Lotto Jackpot is heading for €2.5m.
It was a lucky week for Dubliners after it emerged that this week's Prize Bond Star Prize of €50,000 went to a person from the capital.
The lucky bond had been purchased in 2016.
