A YOUNG man shot last night is a friend of a man who survived a gun attack last week.

Jason McCormack (21) from the Greencastle estate in Coolock was discharged from Beaumont Hospital at 3am today after receiving treatment for a leg gunshot wound.

Sources have revealed that the young man has not provided gardai with a statement about what happened in the incident in Moatview Avenue.

Detectives are investigating if it is linked to another gun attack nearby last week.

Recovering

The Herald can reveal that Mr McCormack is a pal of Carlo Moloney, who is recovering after being shot last Thursday.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardai are investigating a shooting incident at Moatview Avenue, Coolock, in Dublin at 9.20pm on November 13."

"A 21-year-old man received a gunshot wound to the leg. The man has been taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment for his injuries."

McCormack's pal, Moloney (22) was shot in the arm and leg when he was approached from behind. He has also been discharged from hospital. No arrests have been made in either of the cases, which are being investigated by gardai.
