Shocking road rage attack caught on camera

THESE shocking images show a motorist assaulting another man in a road-rage incident.

The full CCTV footage will be screened on RTE's Crimecall tonight as gardai appeal for more information on the vicious assault which occurred earlier this month.

The incident occurred after a motorist drove the wrong way on Strand Road in Bray on January 16.

The motorist was hailed and warned of his mistake by a passenger in another vehicle.

The CCTV footage clearly shows the angry driver squaring up to the victim, before striking him in the face.

The blow to the victim's head was so hard that he fell to the ground, and his legs jerked upwards.

The assailant left the scene before gardai arrived.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardai were called to the scene after a report of a car travelling up the wrong way along Strand Road at 5.10pm.

"We are looking to speak to anybody who witnessed this incident or has any information to help our investigation."

Gardai are hopeful that Crimecall viewers can help them identify the attacker in the CCTV images.

The programme, which is hosted by Grainne Seoige and Philip Boucher Hayes, is broadcast tonight on RTE One at 10.15pm.
