Saoirse Ronan is preparing for the Academy Awards tomorrow - with the help of her mother.

Monica Ronan has travelled to Los Angeles, while Saoirse's dad Paul Ronan remains filming Fair City in Dublin.

It is the actress' fourth Oscar nomination, this time for her role as Jo March in Greta Gerwig's adaptation of Little Women.

Tipped

She is nominated alongside Hollywood A-listers Scarlett Johansson, who appears in Marriage Story, Charlize Theron (Bombshell), Cynthia Erivo (Harriet) and Renee Zellweger (Judy). Zellweger is tipped to win.

Saoirse has already lost out in both the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards for best actress to Zellweger.

The 25-year-old received her first Oscar nomination for best supporting actress at the age of 12 for her role in Atonement and is one of the youngest actors to have been nominated.

She has since been nominated for a best actress award in 2015 and 2017.
