Actress Ruth Negga has reportedly split from her boyfriend of eight years, Dominic Cooper.

The Limerick woman is said to have parted ways with the actor who she starred alongside in the AMC series Preacher.

A source told the New York Post that "their romance ran its course and the two are moving on".

Ruth (36) and Dominic (39) first met in 2009 when they worked together on the play Phedre for the National Theatre in London.

They later worked together on the film Warcraft before starring in Preacher.

The couple were notoriously private about their life together throughout their relationship, with Dominic even skipping attending the Oscars ceremony with his other half when she was nominated for Best Actress last year.

Awards

They were last pictured together in November 2017, looking uncharacteristically loved-up while attending the Harper's Bazaar Woman of the Year Awards, where Ruth was honoured with the top gong.

Ruth has previously discussed some aspects of her personal life, admitting that the idea of having children one day is something that is often on her mind.

"By the time you're in a great relationship, it's like, oh, I'm 35. S***," she said.

"So there is part of your thinking that is: 'Do I want kids? When? If? How?

"It's there, all the time, preoccupying me. And that's not being an actor, it's being a woman."

The actress went on to say that there were few careers that allowed women the opportunity to start a family and then return to work with support behind them.

Born in Ethiopia and raised in Limerick, Ruth relocated to London in 2006 in an attempt to further her acting career and admitted that people often poked fun at for her Irish accent.

"I remember someone laughing at the way I said 'thirty' and I was so shocked you could do that," she said.

Representatives for Ruth had not responded to request for comment last night.
