Royal Mail's aid plan

BRITAIN'S Royal Mail could be forced by the EU to offload some of its most profitable divisions in exchange for a government rescue of its pension scheme.

It's understood that the European Commission is debating whether the British government's plan to take over Royal Mail's pension scheme constitutes state aid.

The scheme has an £8.4bn (€9.7bn) deficit.
