River Island profit dip

PROFITS at clothing group River Island plummeted by 39pc to €7m in Ireland last year.

Revenues dropped 9pc, from €91.3m to €82.5m, at British-owned River Island Clothing Co (Ireland) Ltd.

The chief factor behind the drop at River Island, which operates 23 shops across the country, was the company's gross margin decreasing from 15pc in 2009 to 9.5pc last year.
