Ringfence rates, urges Chambers

Councils should be incentivised in Budget 2016 to ring-fence a portion of commercial rates for local economic development, Chambers Ireland said.

Launching its pre-Budget 2016 submission, the body said the Coalition must also ensure equity in the tax treatment of the self-employed.

Ian Talbot, Chambers Ireland chief executive, said the Government has already indicated that Budget 2016 will be an expansionary budget, but its implementation will "determine our economic future".
