FORMER staff members of Oddbins wines have banded together to reopen a former branch of the wine store in Dublin's city centre.

Baggot Street Wines has reopened in a move that secures local jobs -- including a team of four former employees.

The company provides wholesale and corporate sales services as well as wine, beer and spirit tastings.

Owner Garret Connolly said that he is excited to be heading up a local and independent business.

"It was a case of the 'phoenix rising from the ashes' resulting from the closure of Oddbins, who I had worked with for over 11 years, to opening the doors as an owner," he said.

"The ethos at Baggot Street Wines is to engage in the local community and create a warm atmosphere and be accessible to customers whilst providing what they want."

The store now stocks over 150 Craft Beers, including award-winning Irish and international brands, more than 200 specialist and mainstream brands of spirits and 650 boutique wines from small eclectic wineries.
