'Rebecca' body man loses plea
A Polish national has failed in an appeal against his 10-year sentence for disposing of and trying to destroy the body of slain mother-of-two Rebecca French.
The Court of Criminal Appeal ruled there had been no error in principle in the imposition of a 10-year sentence with two-and-a-half years suspended on Piotr Pasiak (28) at the Central Criminal Court in 2010.
Pasiak, of Lower John Street, in Wexford, had pleaded guilty to impeding the prosecution of another he knew or believed to be guilty of an offence.
The court heard that the body of 30-year-old Rebecca French was found in the boot of a burning car outside Wexford town on October 9, 2009.
