Rachel Allen's boy Lucca to represent Ireland at World Karting Championships
Rachel Allen's son, Lucca, will represent Ireland at the World Karting Championships this week.
Lucca (13) will compete in the Mini Max Kart category and will be up against 15 and 16-year-olds in Le Mans, France.
The teen, who began racing karts when he was nine, previously won the Motorsport Ireland Karting Championship Cadet class, the Southern Karting Club championship and the Irish Karting Club championship.
While he's excited, his celeb chef mum is a ball of nerves.
"It's quite exciting for him, but of course it's completely nerve-racking for me," she said.
"Team Ireland are amazing and he has a great coach, but I'm always the one who is stressed."
Lucca (inset) will travel to France by ferry for the races, which begin tomorrow.
"It's all knock-out rounds and then there will be 36 drivers in the final," Rachel told the Anton Savage Show on Today FM.
"It's a big thing and hopefully he'll get far."
Lucca loves the sport because it is "so competitive" and dreams of being a Formula One champion in the future.
