Profits jump at Intel
GLOBAL chip manufacturer Intel saw a 6pc jump in profits last year despite a fall in computer sales.
The company, which employs more than 4,000 people in Ireland, said that the next quarter's results will match expectations.
Fourth-quarter net income was $3.36bn (€2.6bn), an increase from $3.18bn a year earlier.
The company is also struggling with tepid PC sales due to a weak economy and consumers' increasing preferences for Apple's iPad.
