RISING Fianna Fail star Averil Power stunned as she as strutted on the catwalk at the annual Oireachtas fashion night in a striking blue dress.

Jobs Minister Richard Bruton, Minister for Children Frances Fitzgerald and Arts Minister Jimmy Deenihan were among the other politicians to try their hand at modelling at the Shelbourne hotel.

They were joined by some of the country's top models such as Roz Purcell and former Miss World Rosanna Davison for the show, which was in aid of Motor Neurone Disease.

Among the talking points were the Under Armour golfing costume worn by Senator Eamon Coughlan and the massive hat sported by Fine Gael's Michelle Mulherin.

Many in the audience noted that some the politicians seemed to be taking the whole thing very seriously – especially the men.
