Pervert's 'camera up skirt of girl (6)'
Gardai are investigating allegations that a man put his hand up a child's skirt and photographed her at a north Dublin hotel before being chased away by family members.
The shocking incident happened late on Saturday night when the man, said to be aged in his mid-50s, was reported to have photographed a group of children.
He then allegedly put his hand up the skirt of the six-year-old girl's clothing and took another picture.
The child was believed to be attending a family event at the hotel and the suspect who fled was not known to her.
He ran from the hotel after being confronted by a relative of the girl who then reported the matter to hotel management and gardai.
"The little one had been playing with a group of other children when the man began to take pictures of them," said one source.
"If these allegations turn out to be true it is very worrying."
The man gardai are looking to speak to was wearing a long-sleeve blue shirt and a navy sleeveless top.
He also wore blue jeans, had grey tight receding hair and glasses.
It is unclear if the alleged suspect physically touched the girl or not, but the incident is being treated as highly suspicious.
Sources said they are trying to establish if the suspect was a guest at the hotel or was visiting at the time.
Gardai confirmed to the Herald that a complaint "of a suspicious approach" was being investigated at the north Dublin hotel.
Detectives are currently investigating CCTV footage from the hotel, as well as interviewing staff and possible witnesses to the incident.
With most hotels now having high quality CCTV installed, it is hoped that the images retrieved will show the alleged attacker either with the children or near them and give gardai a good starting point.
