Parents warned after man approaches girl
Parents in Blanchardstown and Clonsilla are being urged to be extra vigilant after a child was approached by a man.
Gardai say a suspicious approach to a child took place in the Mount Symon Green area of Clonsilla at around 4pm on Thursday.
A fifth-class student from Scoil Mhuire Senior School in Blakestown was approached by the man who was driving a red car.
Following the incident the school sent a message to parents and asked that they make child safety a priority.
They also held special classes yesterday advising children on what steps they should take if they find themselves in a similar situation.
"There was an incident involving a girl from the school yesterday," parish priest Fr Liam O'Cuiv told the Herald.
"In response, the school has since held sessions with children to reinforce safety procedures and made parents aware via text." The message advised parents to be extra-cautious following the event.
"Following an incident in the Clonsilla area last night where a male stranger approached a pupil of our school, we are asking parents to be extra-vigilant concerning child safety at all times.
"The gardai in Blanchardstown are dealing with the incident and are taking the necessary precautions."
