Pair leapt out of car and began scrapping

AN uncle and nephew jumped out of their car and got into a fight at the roadside, a court heard.

William Mongan (40) and Martin Mongan (34) were being driven home from a family get-together when they got into a row and "things got out of hand".

A judge said she would leave them without convictions if they donated €50 each to charity.

William Mongan, of Mullymux, Roscommon, and Martin Mongan, of Mac Uilliam Gardens, Tallaght, both admitted public intoxication and breach of the peace.

Dublin District Court heard the fight happened at the Tallaght bypass on January 9.

Garda Lisa Prendergast said she was on patrol at 2.10am when she saw a car stopped at traffic lights.

An argument was going on inside the car, the doors opened and the accused got out and began fighting.
