Oz PM denies coup threats
AUSTRALIAN prime minister Julia Gillard said she still has enough support despite growing speculation that foreign minister Kevin Rudd plans to seize power.
Ms Gillard came to power in an internal coup within her Labour Party that ousted Mr Rudd in June 2010.
Speculation is mounting that Rudd supporters now plan to restore him to power.
But Ms Gillard said today that Mr Rudd does not have enough support to successfully challenge. Mr Rudd denied he plans to challenge Ms Gillard for the leadership.
Qatar wants an autumn Games
QATAR is proposing to hold the 2020 Olympics in October to avoid the Gulf Arab state's searing summer heat, maintaining that the proposed October dates would "ensure ideal conditions for athletes and spectators." Details of the bid released yesterday show that Doha would like to stage the Olympics from October 2-18 and the Paralympics from November 4.
