O'Neill may be Ireland manager in weeks
MARTIN O'Neill could be unveiled as the new Republic of Ireland soccer manager in the coming weeks.
Bookmakers today suspended betting on the former Sunderland man, below, getting the top job.
Although the FAI has refused to comment on the speculation, O'Neill's name was openly being touting as Giovanni Trapattoni's replacement.
Some reports even suggest that the appointment could be made as soon as next week. However, the FAI is prepared to play a waiting game should the Co Derry native ask for more time to make a decision.
Ireland play Latvia in a friendly match in Dublin on November 15 and will play Poland later in the month.
The contest for the job was widely seen as a two horse race between O'Neill and former Irish manager Mick McCarthy.
