'One punch' victim Patrick Lyttle walks out of hospital with accused brother
A man who was left in a coma after a "one punch" assault involving his brother walked out of hospital yesterday.
Patrick Lyttle, with a shaved and bandaged head, walked from hospital in Sydney after he was discharged.
Walking alongside him were his thrilled father Oliver, brother Barry, sister Karen and girlfriend Maria McCaffrey.
Patrick (31) hit the headlines in early January after the incident left him fighting for his life following an alleged assault by Barry.
Yesterday, the bothers were snapped smiling side by side together.
News of Patrick's recovery has been welcome by family friends in their native Ballycastle, Co Antrim. Locals there have raised some €4,000 for the family in the last few weeks.
Patrick's fell and hit his head following a row outside a Sydney pub on January 3rd.
He had brain surgery and was place on life-support machine.
As Patrick fought for his life in hospital, his brother Barry was charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.
After appearing before court, Barry was released on bail where he joined his father Oliver at his stricken brother's bedside.
The brothers' father Oliver supported his son in court and movingly told gathered reporters the brothers "have loved each other from when they were kids".
Barry and his father Oliver few to Australia to meet Patrick over Christmas. Patrick had been backpacking in Australia.
Barry Lyttle is expected to appear before a court in Sydney later this month.
