ONE person has been found dead and around 350 homes have been destroyed by a raging US wildfire that forced thousands to flee.
Ever-changing winds this week have caused the fire to push into the city limits of Colorado Springs, frustrating firefighters and roaring along the edge of the US Air Force Academy.
It was still too dangerous for officials to get close enough to determine the cause of the fire or get a complete count of burnt homes.
Police Chief Pete Carey said the remains of one person was found in a home where two people had been reported missing. He said that authorities are trying to track down "less than 10" people who may be unaccounted for.
