Omniplex's €4m cinema revamp
IRISH cinema group Omniplex has unveiled plans for a €4m extension to triple the number of screens at the Rathmines cinema. The move will create an additional 15 full time and part-time jobs at the additional six new cinema screens.
This will almost double the existing workforce of 17 at the multiplex cinema which opened in 2009 at a cost of €3m.
Planning permission was recently granted for Screens 4 and 5.
Construction of Screen 4 will start in the next few weeks with an anticipated opening in the summer.
And planning permission will be lodged shortly with Dublin City Council for screens 6, 7, 8 & 9.
Paul Anderson, managing director of Omniplex Group, said since opening three years ago the Swan Omniplex had out-performed expectations by becoming one of their most successful cinemas. "We want to build on this success to widen our offer of films and provide the latest digital and 3D technology, alongside cutting-edge satellite communications."
