OAP facing trial for alleged sex assault
THE State has been given more time to prepare its case against a pensioner accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young girl.
The man, who is in his 60s, is charged with 10 counts of sexually assaulting the girl, who was only five years old when the alleged abuse began.
The alleged offences took place at his home in west Dublin on various dates between October 2011 and April 2013.
Blanchardstown District Court heard the DPP has directed trial on indictment in the Circuit Court on the charges.
State solicitor Aisling Kelly said the book of evidence was not yet ready and asked for the matter to be adjourned to a date next month.
As part of his bail conditions, the accused has been ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or her family.
