O2 trials speed increase
IRELAND'S second-largest mobile operator O2 has successfully trialled 21Mbps mobile broadband in urban locations and plans to make the services commercially available later this summer
The company said benefits of the new network upgrade include improved download speeds of up to 21Mbps as well as uplink speeds of up to 5.7Mbps.
O2 said it had invested more than €1bn in its network. The increasing popularity of smartphones such as the Apple iPhone has resulted in a three-fold increase in data usage levels in the past two years.
