O Snodaigh needs better explanation
Aengus O Snodaigh's explanation for claiming computer print cartridges to the value of €50,000 in just two years from the Dail won't satisfy many taxpayers.
The Dublin South Central TD claimed three cartridges for every sitting day in 2007 -- 215 cartridges for the 76 days that the Dail sat. And that's not the end of it -- in just over two years his level of uptake came to an extraordinary €50,671. He could have sent over 3.25million letters for that amount of ink.
Of course, TDs need to keep in contact with their constituents and letter writing is the means that many of them use.
However, by anyone's standards, O Snodaigh's availing of this facility is extraordinary.
What was he doing with the cartridges that required such extraordinary use?
O Snodaigh and his colleagues in Sinn Fein are amongst the first to point the finger at any other sitting TD who they see as abusing their position or freeloading. O Snodaigh's explanationjust doesn't cut it.
