Northern Ireland man (23) arrested in UK over 39 lorry container deaths
British police arrested a 23-year-old man from Northern Ireland yesterday over the deaths of 39 people from Vietnam whose bodies were found in a refrigerated container truck in Essex last month.
UK police have already charged 25-year-old Maurice Robinson, a Northern Ireland truck driver, with 39 counts of manslaughter and conspiracy to traffic people.
In addition, UK authorities are seeking to extradite Co Down man Eamon Harrison (22) from Ireland to face charges of manslaughter in the case.
Essex Police said the man was detained on a motorway north of London yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to traffic people and conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration.
The 39 bodies were found on October 23 in the English town of Grays. The victims were all from Vietnam and aged 15 to 44.
Several other people have been arrested in Vietnam over the case.
