No mercy for husband-killer
The US Supreme Court refused to block the execution of a woman convicted of two killings, clearing the way for Virginia's first execution of a woman in nearly a century.
Teresa Lewis is scheduled to die by injection tomorrow for providing sex and money to two men to kill her husband and stepson in October 2002 so she could collect on a $250,000 insurance payout.
The court's decision followed Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell's refusal to reconsider a clemency request
Briton slain in Philippines
A British man was shot dead in the Philippines in the second attack in as many days against a foreigner in the country.
Bruce Anthony Jones was in a car in Angeles city en route to meet friends in a firing range yesterday when two men on a motorcycle fatally shot him and wounded his Filipino wife.
Police chief Danilo Bautista said the 50-year-old Mr Jones was a resident of the nearby city of Olongapo.
On Monday, a gang also shot dead an American man in the southern Iligan city.
