No matter what - Keith has new job as he helps Mondo tie knot
With Boyzone calling it a day, Keith Duffy could be starting a new career as a wedding celebrant.
The singer conducted the humanist-style wedding of Fair City actor George McMahon and his choreographer partner Rachel Smyth.
Eighty guests were invited to a remote farmhouse on Spain's Costa del Sol for the outdoor event, where the couple's 14-month-old daughter Frankie was a flower girl.
"It was genuinely the best day of our lives," said George (35), who plays Mondo in the TV soap.
The actor admitted he was a "bag of nerves" in the lead
up to the ceremony.
"People were saying, 'Are you all right, George, you're going to wear out the soles of your feet', I was just pacing and pacing," he said.
"As soon as I saw Frankie walking up the aisle, I broke down crying.
"Then everyone started crying. I thought I was invisible behind my shades, but everyone was like, 'No, we saw you crying'."
Rachel (32) was walked down the aisle by her father, Paul, as her mum, Tressa, looked on.
Rachel's bridesmaids were her sisters, Arlene, Erica and Ava. George's best man was his closest friend growing up, Ronan Carroll. His groomsmen were his brother-in-law, Ronan O'Halloran, and Dave O'Sullivan, who plays Decco in Fair City.
Actress Jenny Dixon, who played Kerri-Ann in Fair City, and her new husband, Fine Gael TD Tom Neville, who are on honeymoon in Europe, also dropped in on the celebrations, as did Fair City actor Ryan Andrews and his girlfriend Michaela O'Neill.
Rachel wore a gown made by Malaga-based designer Rosa Clara, while the bridesmaids were dressed by JJ's House.
George, who grew up in Celbridge, Co Kildare, has known Rachel since she was 16. The couple became close during their 20s when they hung out with mutual friends and cast members while working in Dublin.
Days before the Spanish ceremony, the couple legally tied the knot at a private service in Ireland, where Keith and Rachel's sister, Ava, were witnesses.
