No change in gas cost

THE ENERGY regulator has pledged to keep gas prices for homes and smaller businesses unchanged for the six months from February to the end of September.

However, the Commission for Energy Regulation warned that consumers would likely see hikes from October this year as current forecasts expect the price of gas on wholesale markets to rise. Bord Gais welcomed the decision, but chief executive John Mullins (above) warned that price increases were 'inevitable' at the next price review in October if current trends continued.
