She's been one of Ireland's top models for close to a decade but now making music is Michele McGrath's top priority.

The Dublin model (28) is one-third of girlband Liir, which she formed last year with former Voice of Ireland contestant Kim Hayden and You're A Star winner Leanne Moore.

Michele is happy to make music her full-time gig and put other projects on the backburner, but the Skerries beauty is still represented by Andrea Roche's agency and will continue to model on a part-time basis.

"I do still love modelling and it's been very good to me as a platform to get to do other things, but music is my focus and it's what I'm happiest doing," she told the Herald.

The brunette revealed that the three-piece band are busy writing music and working hard to find their own unique style.

"It's definitely my passion and I'm delighted to be doing it full time. Me and the girls are in the studio recording and trying to find our sound and I love it," Michelle said.

The trio missed out on a chance to represent Ireland in this year's Eurovision Song Contest when they weren't chosen as one of the finalists for RTE's Eurosong, but Michele took young singer Molly Sterling under her wing before she jetted to Geneva for the competition.

While Molly's bid to win the contest was unsuccessful, Michele still rates the up-and-coming songwriter.

"She's an amazing songwriter and she really did Ireland proud with that performance," she said.

"She has a bright future ahead of her so definitely watch this space."

The 28-year-old has been named as a celebrity judge for this year's Dare to be Different Style Awards at Bulmers Live at Leopardstown.

"Being a model for 10 years has meant I've been brought up with fashion all around me, so that's really helpful when it comes to picking out what looks good," she said.

"What's great about the competition is it's not all about being classic and elegant as you'd normally associate with the races - you can wear something a bit more quirky."

The band is eager to carve out a successful career in the music business and Michele recently revealed how Eurovision legend Linda Martin has been giving Liir some tips.

"Linda has been really great," Michelle said.

"She's just been brilliant for advice - she's just had such a massive career in the industry so far, so any advice we're getting off her is brilliant."
