A mother has spoken of her heartache at the theft of a tiny gold bracelet that belonged to her baby, who died when he was only six-weeks-old.

Grace Russell said her son's name, Jordan, is inscribed on the front of the bracelet, and his date of birth, May 25, 1997, is on the back.

"Jordan was six-weeks-old when he passed away from cot death on July 5, 1997," Ms Russell said.

Today marks two weeks since she returned home and found her house had been broken into and ransacked.

Among the items taken was the bracelet, which had been kept in a small box.

Other jewellery including another bracelet and some rings were also taken, but Ms Russell has made the app-eal about the baby bracelet.

Precious

"It's very precious and sentimental to me. When I discovered it was gone, it was like someone put their hand into my chest and ripped my heart out," she said.

"I'm pleading, I'm begging, if anyone knows anything, please contact the gardaĆ in Drogheda."

"I am devastated and heartbroken."

Ms Russell, who lives on Nun's Walk, Drogheda, Co Louth, said she has not slept properly since the theft and wants the bracelet returned.

"I hope whoever took it has a heart and gives it back," she said.
