Mugger left OAP suffering broken hip

AN elderly lady suffered a suspected broken hip after a robber snatched her handbag as she walked with her husband in the city centre last night.

The incident happened at the entrance to the Setanta Place car park off Nassau Street at around 10.15pm after the couple had been to the theatre.

The woman fell to the ground after her bag was snatched by the culprit, who is believed to have escaped in the direction of Nassau Street.

Gardai are calling the crime "particularly nasty" and are today reviewing CCTV and appealing for witnesses.

The victim of the crime -- who is a Dublin lady -- is said to be in a "distraught state" today and she was rushed to St James' Hospital for treatment.
