GARDAI may begin a murder inquiry after the body of a missing father-of-three was found face down in a river.
Stephen McCloskey, who was 33, had been missing since October 28.
Members of a gun club found his body wedged into a river bed at Bridge Brook, Bridgend, Co Donegal, yesterday afternoon.
The scene remained sealed off overnight with a full forensic examination expected to take place this morning.
The area where the body was found was 2km away from where Mr McCloskey's Nissan Terrano 4x4 was found abandoned.
His family in Derry had been involved in a massive campaign on social media to find him.
The Sligo Coast Guard 118 helicopter, Greencastle Coast Guard and hundreds of volunteers had been searching the area around where the vehicle was found over the past week.
Mr McCloskey had received threats in the past.
