Merrion Square: Park to prove a draw as overhaul begins
The revamp of Merrion Square park is finally under way.
A major overhaul of the city space was announced last year, with a tearoom, restrooms and a gallery planned as part of the works.
At a Dublin City Council (DCC) meeting last week it was said that the grounds are being prepared for a new footpath in the park.
"Tree works required to facilitate the installation of a perimeter footpath in Merrion Square Park were completed by the end of February," an executive from the landscape department said.
"Additional works involving the regrading of topsoil, grass seeding, laying of footpaths and screening of the park depot will be undertaken over the coming weeks," the executive added.
A new playground, inspired by Oscar Wilde's The Selfish Giant, was opened there last July.
