McGregor's trademark name plans are blocked
A little-known Dutch firm is seeking to hinder MMA star Conor McGregor's plans to expand his brand across Europe.
McGregor IP BV has lodged three separate objections to planned trademarks sought by the fighter's main firm, McGregor Sports and Entertainment Limited.
Documents lodged with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante confirm the Dutch firm has lodged formal objections against McGregor registering The McGregor Follows and McGregor Productions.
It followed the company lodging an earlier objection against plans by McGregor to register the McGregor FAST brand across Europe.
FAST is McGregor's "Fighter Aerobic/Anaerobic System of Training" programme which he markets to fitness enthusiasts.
Documentation at EUIPO shows McGregor Sports and Entertainment Limited hopes to register the McGregor Productions trademark for a range of activities including DVDs, videos and other audio-visual endeavours.
Putting forward the grounds for objection, the Dutch firm claims that "there exists a likelihood of confusion on the part of the public".
