OUR photos show Traffic Gardai hiding behind a bus on Dublin's quays as they enforce Mayor Slow's speed limit.

Hardpressed commuters heading home were the prey as two bike gardai mounted the radar checkpoint close to Heuston station.

The gardai were only doing their job - on behalf of anti-car mayor, Andrew Montague.

The bicycle fanatic - dubbed Mayor Slow - was behind the introduction of the crawling speed limits around central Dublin.

"It made me angry when I was passing to see the gardai hiding behind the bus. Ok they were only doing their job but it was nfuriating for motorists," said a caller to the Herald.

"Montague and his pals should raise the speed limit. It's just barmy," said a motorist.
