Mary Curtis has announced she will step down as head of channel at UTV Ireland 18 months after the station launched.
Curtis made the announcement yesterday and will depart from the station in early February.
"While I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with UTV Ireland, it was always my intention to review my position after the channel's first year on air," she said.
"It has been an exciting and challenging year."
Curtis previously worked in RTE where she held several senior management roles, including director of Digital Switchover and deputy director of programming.
She left the national broadcaster in 2013 to established her own consultancy firm.
In an internal memo sent out to UTV Ireland staff yesterday, Curtis said it had been "a difficult decision to make".
She also informed colleagues she had no intention to start working for a rival station and is looking forward to taking a break and spending some time with her family.
In Curtis' absence Michael Wilson, managing director of UTV Television, will oversee the Dublin operation.
