Man stole booze and DVDs on

A DUBLIN man who walked out of a supermarket with DVDs and alcohol was celebrating his 50th birthday at the time, a court heard.

Paul Corcoran (50) had taken a few drinks to celebrate his birthday when he foolishly decided to take the items.

Judge John Lindsay applied the probation act.

The defendant, of Tivoli Road in Dun Laoghaire, admitted before Dun Laoghaire District Court to taking DVDs and alcohol, worth €46, from Tesco in Dun Laoghaire on October 26 last year.

Sergeant Peadar McCann said Corcoran was seen pushing a trolley filled with the items out a delivery entrance at Tesco.

The court heard Corcoran was homeless for seven years but now has accommodation and is doing well.

He is on disability allowance.
